Re-registered to vote

I re-registered to vote, before the deadline, and I still have not received my registration card! I really feel the need to vote in this election. There is too much going wrong in this country to not have my vote counted.

Don’t stop exercising…

Don’t stop exercising, because if you do it long enough, you’ll like how you look/feel. Then, inevitably you will stop for one reason or another and then you will want to start again. Now exercising is great and all except for when you first start/restart.

I’m in the restart phase right now. I’ve been to the gym twice and started running around my [very dark at 5:45 am] neighborhood (which has no streetlights yet, even though the power company has been paid). The first trip to the gym was uneventful, I did 15 minutes of cardio, followed by some leg stuff. Amazingly enough, I wasn’t sore from that. Now normally when I’m in the restart phase (cuz I am often in this phase), I am sore regardless of how easy or hard I am with the weights. I must’ve gotten too confident in that fact that I wasn’t sore from the first workout because I did chest and back yesterday and now, I am sore as hell. Apparently, I pushed myself a little too hard on the first chest/back workout day.

Argh (click that word!), this sucks. I could barely put on a shirt this morning but every time Aaron sees me, he wants me to pick him up. Instead of being nice to myself, I just pick him up (and put him down about a minute later).

I’m just ranting now. I’m done.

Closing on two properties on the same day is bad

Ok, so the title says it all but don’t ever close on two properties on the same day…EVER! Getting the check from their mortgage company took three days! Normally, when closing on a single piece of property, the buyer will get their check that day, at the table. Apparently when you close on two properties on the same day, there are bound to be lots of delays, especially when you couple that with closing on the final day of the month. So now I get to take down the bartletthomeforsale.com website (no link because it’s going down!), since our Bartlett home is no longer for sale…cuz we don’t own a house in Bartlett, Tennessee anymore!

The pain, oh the pain

So if you read my post about joining a gym, you may (or may not, in which case, screw you!) have been wondering about my level of soreness!

Well, the level of pain in my abdominal region in almost unbearable. I should be pat on the back by everyone that sees me for having to deal with all this pain in one area of my body. Holy shit it hurts. Why is it that I can pedal my ass off for two 45 minute classes and not be even the tinsiest bit sore in either of my legs but 10 minutes of ab exercies makes me want to just inject my muscles with morphine?!

But enough about that…actually I’m done. I have nothing else to bitch about at the moment. Other than my abs hurting, but I think I’ve said that already.

Gyms in Orlando

The YMCA in East Memphis that I belonged to was not a great place. Sure, they had some weights, some basic weight lifting equipment (not much at all), and a few pieces of cardio equipment. If you factor in the shape of the facility, the look of the locker room and shower area, it wasn’t exactly crap but wasn’t much higher on the scale. The Memphis Y cost about $40 a month for a single person membership and that was about on par with other gyms in the area. When Meri told me to check out the Y down here, I was a bit skeptical and basically didn’t want to even waste my time.

I got to the downtown Y a few days ago and was immediately shocked! This place is gorgeous! There are 2 separate cardio areas; 3 weight rooms, two of which have free-weights, the third has the hammer strength type of equipment; there are 4 racquet ball courts; 1 large basketball court; and two very large pools, one indoor, the other outside; a spinning room; and finally several large rooms for stretching or aerobics classes. After my tour was over, we talked price. This is also where I was shocked. The cost of a single membership was $58…just for me! The cost for a family membership was $90! Plus there is a $100 “application” fee for a single membership and $150 for a family. I thought, “Damn! This is ridiculous!”

So I joined the downtown YMCA today at lunch and had some clothes in my truck just in case I got out of work early and felt like going. This particular YMCA has spinning classes every morning and evening at 6. I really liked spinning in college so I thought “what the hell, let’s do it!” I was proud of myself. For not doing a really labor intensive cardio workout in over 5 years, I did very well. I made it through the entire 45 minute class and even did a little ab workout at the end. It was great fun! We’ll just see how I feel in the morning!

Google Reader redesigned

The newly redesigned Google Reader is so much better than the old Google Reader. Not only was there a face-lift to the site, there are a few other features that make it one of the best RSS readers on the web today.

Perhaps the newest feature I like the most is the fact that I can view the items as an expanded view, showing all of the text of the article, or as just the headline itself. Now that sounds simple right? I’m sure it was. The two options are just a click away.

I’ve abandoned bloglines.com for the new Google Reader. It’s now my homepage, since I like being able to just glance at news and figure out what is going on in the world.

In Orlando

Well I’m in Orlando now. I made it here in about twelve and a half hours. Google maps said 16; yahoo maps said just over 13. I found a good little pack of cars from Alabama to Florida and we all rode at about 90 or 95. It is good to be back in Florida!

Back from Bermuda

Well I’m back from my vacation in Bermuda.

The cruise was great, the island was gorgeous and the food was awesome (so awesome that I gained 10 pounds!).

I’m tired from all of my travels and dealings with family, both blood and the in-law type so I will post a single picture for now.

The house is showing…already!

That’s right people, the house is showing tonight! There aren’t even pictures on the web and someone is coming by tonight to check it out! Looks like I’ve got to clean up a bit and mow the yard in this blazing 95 degree heat! The showing realtor sold this house originally and he thinks the price is right and his clients will like it. So here’s hoping the house sells, even though it isn’t on realtor.com and doesn’t have any pictures on my realtor’s website.
