Month end preliminary stuff is on its way to being fixed! We’re waiting on a tape backup of our old data which we should have by this afternoon. I fixed the program that bombed, that was easy. Jeff created an index on one of the files that is being read and that simple change decreased run time from 13 hours (as of last month end) to just over 47 minutes! WHOA is right. I woke up with Aaron at 3:30 this morning and tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t. All I could think of was “I hope that program is running because it’s going to take 13 hours to run (I forgot about the index being created)” so I went upstairs, logged into our system and didn’t see it running so then I thought “oh great, it’s not going to even be finished till the end of the day, after I normally leave” which meant that I could not use the reports to help identify which GL entries needed to be reversed! But I did a little more digging and saw that the job had actually completed! My first thought was that my program change caused it to bomb and then I checked to ensure that all my changes made it to PRD and they were all there; the new table had data, more than 10,000 entries like I thought it should (which was why the program bombed in the first place). Then I checked the spooled files for QOTHPRDOWN and there were my three reports! WOO HOO! (I’m a dork). I sent them to report manager and then tried to go back to sleep for about 40 minutes. No go that time either. I just got up and read some more of the 3rd Harry Potter book (Prisoner of Azkaban). I’m almost caught up to the number of HP movies I’ve seen.

November month end… one word: dammit. This is my second month end and what happens? I screw up the preliminary part of it. All I have to do is run a couple of programs. I ran them… out of order! Yippee Pete! Dumbass. This sucks. Now we’ve got to figure out how to “fix” the data correctly even. This really does suck.

Yay Turkey Day! (Thanksgiving to you bub!) We had our own family day here in <shudder> Memphis. It was a decent first Thanksgiving. It was just us three. We *read: Meri* cooked a lot of food: 9lb turkey, 9lb ham (for me! yay ham!), unspecified amount of green beans, dill mashed potatoes, stuffing (that was actually stuffed into the turkey!), giblet gravy and I think that is all. All that for the three of us! My mom went camping with my brother, my nephew, my nephew’s half-sister, her mom (Toshia; I don’t know if she is Tommy’s girlfriend this week or not), Toshia’s mom and brother and some other family members in Waycross GA. I hope they had fun, camping on turkey day doesn’t sound that great to me. But anyway, so now we have a ton-o-leftovers and guess what I brought for lunch today?! CHILI! That’s right, chili. I wanted to eat it before we had to throw it out.

I need to get motivated to get my ass back in the gym on a regular basis. I need a workout partner! That is one thing that truly sucked about leaving Jax, I lost a great workout partner. Good thing I make more money here! mwahaha

Aaron is being more clingy than normal. I think we’ve decided that Meri will get a job, go to school and we are gonna put Aaron in a daycare now rather than later. We both think he’s getting too attached to his mommy. Not that I can blame him, she’s a great woman!

We set up our Christmas tree last night. Aaron helped a little bit. I’ll post pictures later tonight I hope! He kept taking the ornaments off of the tree and saying “mine”. Isn’t that just wonderful?! He’s not supposed to say stuff like that till he’s 2 (he’s currently 18 months); close enough for him I suppose.

Well anyway, time to get motivated for the gym and work I guess.

Waiting waiting waiting…on Jeff to make my field changes so I can continue testing that which I do not know! But in the meantime…
Aaron’s using the potty sparingly now. He gets excited when he does make use of it, I’m sure because Meri and I make a big deal about it with lots of clapping and happy noises. We’re all going to New Hampshire for Christmas this year. I’ve got to put in my vacation request form so I can make sure I have the one day off that I actually need. It took some convincing on my part to go up there. It seems that Meri was very worried about how mad her mom would be that we weren’t going to stay with them the whole time…oh well, she’ll just have to be angry. We’re staying with her grandparents most of the time. We’ll spend Christmas Eve night and Christmas morning at her parent’s house.

Thanksgiving, it will be just Meri, Aaron and I at our house. I’m guessing that Meri will be depressed that we aren’t in NH with her family but Thanksgiving will just have to be our own little thing. We have our family so it’s about time that we started our own traditions.

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday, November 8th 2005. We had a good time out. It is nice to be out without Aaron sometimes. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 2 years already though. I think that’s a good thing. =)

Aaron has two more teeth to boast about. He’s also saying a lot of little phrases more clearly now. I still can’t get him to say his name though. He’ll say ‘go go go’ while pushing a grocery cart around the store but won’t say ‘Aaron’ while we’re sitting on the kitchen floor. He’s still adorable. We posted a ton of pictures to his website thanks to a new camera (thanks to our old one biting the dust very recently!).
